Model 61 Repeating Rifle

In response to a continued demand for a Winchester hammerless rimfire, slide action, repeating rifle, the Winchester Model 61 was developed and placed on the market in June of 1932.

The Model 61 was developed as a modern, hammerless .22 rimfire repeating rifle, incorporating all of the modern features of this type of rifle. This model sold in decent quantities despite the handicap of competing with the much-earlier-introduced hammerless actions made by competitors.

The Model 61 was discontinued in 1963; about 342,000 were made. It was followed by the Model 60A Target Rifle. PGW manufactures only the buttstock for the 61. It originally came with a checkered steel buttplate.
